The National Center for Teacher Education created the online Student Portal to assist high school and college students, or re-careering adults interested in becoming an educator to find timely and accurate information about the teacher education and early childhood fields, and Maricopa Community College programs. The Portal includes
- the top five reasons to attend a Maricopa Community College,
- detailed descriptions of each Maricopa Community Colleges’ teacher education and early childhood programs, with links to college web pages,
- comprehensive information about how to become a teacher in Arizona and related links,
- a resource website list,
- information about current scholarships, and
- links to Maricopa Community Colleges resources and publications such as the teacher education handbook for students, 10 Myths & Realities about Community College Teacher Education Programs brochure, information about the Association in Arts in Elementary Education degree, and online newsletter.
Students interested in learning about becoming a teacher and/or attending a Maricopa Community College teacher education or early childhood program are encouraged to visit the Student Portal to begin their journey to becoming an educator.
The newly created Why Teach promotional brochure is available for Maricopa Community Colleges teacher education faculty and staff use in recruiting students.
