Mitchell 20 Movie
Monday, February 13, 2012 | 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Glendale Community College | Free
Mark your calendars! The National Center for Teacher Education (NCTE) and Glendale Community College (MCC) will be hosting a screening of the newly released Mitchell 20 movie. Mitchell 20 is a documentary about twenty teachers at Mitchell Elementary School, a high poverty school in the Isaac School District in Phoenix, who decided to improve the one thing they had control over - the quality of their teaching. Over a three year period, these teachers are followed as they attempt National Board Certification, a grueling program that is considered the most accurate measure of teacher effectiveness in relation to student achievement. This is a story of frustration, hope and purpose, and an amazing example of how we can fundamentally confront and overcome inequality in a society. |
